RAMBLE ALERT. Read only if you have nothing else to do this Sunday!!
Hellow everyone!!
How have you all been?
Kolkata's temperature and humidity is making survival nearly impossible!! *sigh* What a waste of holidays. I am home for more than a month and I haven't moved outside for once (except of course for buying groceries). 2 more months left of my hols and the thought of spending it cooped up at home is driving me nuts.
Anyway, I have been wasting (or rather utilising) my time watching all sorts of movies, watching TV for hours and blaring music at the highest possible volume (which is of course driving my neighbours nuts :D). Sadly, I have been unable to read any of the 50+ books that are begging me to read them. I go to the book shelf ,take a look at them and come back empty handed. *sigh* Started reading 7 books at the same time (yep,I always read 5 or more books at a time) and left all of them midway. This exam thingy has made me hate books or for that matter, anything printed. Just imagine, I left Christie,Dan Brown and Sheldon midway!! I can't believe myself!! I just hope my aversion is temporary.
Coming back to the point I am done watching House and Sherlock (do watch them if you haven't. They are awesomeness!!). Now watching The Big Bang Theory. Saw the BBC rendition of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South. I am a sucker for Victorian romances. All the four episodes, I kept drooling at Richard Armitage :P. Boy, he has the sharpest nose I have ever seen!!
Any suggestions for more TV shows ??
I will leave you with a few movies I saw in the meanwhile and liked.
Rom - Coms-
My Sassy Girl - One of my very favourite rom-coms, this Korean film will keep your funny bones tickling all those 2.25 hours. Amazing story with even more amazing characters.
Others I saw and liked are Love Actually, New York I Love You, The Lakehouse, The Holiday and As Good as it Gets.
Drama-
Black Book - A multilingual (Dutch,German,Hebrew,English) war-drama. Saw a war movie after a very long time and surprisingly, I loved it (of course it wouldn't be here on my list had I not loved it!!). Carice van Houten, amazingly talented and graceful. Red lippie never looked better on anybody.
I have a particular hatred for war and films depicting war but I don't know why, I keep on watching one war film after another. Here are the other ones I saw and liked- Inglourious Basterds, Atonement, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Schindler's List, A Very long Engagement, Casablanca, The Pianist and Saving Private Ryan. Not all of them are particularly about war but they show the war from close quarters.
Animation-
Ratatouille - A very inspiring movie this one is. Dream it and go for it. Absolutely delightful!!
Others I saw are- Mary and Max , Coraline, Wall E, Kung Fu Panda 2, The Polar Express, Megamind and Tangled.
Have a great weekend everyone!!

DeleteSeven books at once?!? WOW! I'm impressed. I don't think I could read more than two at the same time. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading a lot of chick lit this summer, but I want to get back into reading the serious books on my list. There is something about summer though where I just crave crazy, silly, thoughtless rom com type of books. :)
I read different books at the same time to keep myself from getting bored. :P
DeleteYeah exactly, whats with summer and chick lits and rom coms? i have been watching rom coms back to back for days now!!
Girl you are one voracious movie watcher:P.....I prefer to sleep during holidays rather than reading or watching tv:p. lazy me
